A beautiful and rare 19th century French jewellery casket in ormolu with 1 cm thick beveled glass panels. This stunning piece is unusually a two tier casket with hinged front opening door.

With a trapezoidal aspect, it has a silk, quilted lining and shelf and most attractively also has a hook for a ladies pocket watch.

The casing is still bright ormolu with pinned tooth edges to hold in the glass. The case is held on ornate ormolu feet and has a matching acanthus style parapet finial. White metal back to hold it all together.

Condition for age is very good. The S hook which holds the door closed holds firm but the door does not sit 100% flush. The quilting and glass are in excellent condition.
