Glitz and glamour at an affordable price with this Butler and Wilson brooch
Butler and Wilson (B&W) surely have a special place in the heart of costume jewellery lovers everywhere and this fabulous brooch shows why. Butler and Wilson began in 1969 as antique traders but quickly moved on to designing their own pieces of jewellery attracting the attentions of the great and the good as well as featuring in fashion shows, film and TV. British Vogue even named B&W as “Costume Royalty”
This brooch – an early piece as indicated by the full surround of the signature – is what some may call outsized and features a lady walking a dog, modelled on a classic 1930s design. Although cast together the dog is held on a chain. Silvertone or silver plated metal inset with large sparkling crystals of exceptional quality, and the walker’s head is a large single crystal. This brooch is designed to be eye-catching and it certainly lives up to expectations. Although B&W are still very much in operation this piece is not one of the more common pieces around so worth snapping up.
