A simply stunning and very elegant Edwardian silver desk tidy comprising a very Edwardian style, scallop edged silver stand/tray with scroll-work feet and a central gallery in which sits a cut glass inkwell with flip-top silver lid also scalloped to reflect the design.
The gallery is scalloped and the glass is cut to match each dip in the silver. The piece is hallmarked everywhere by quality makers The Goldsmiths and SIlversmiths Company of Regent Street, London. Each individual part is hallmarked – the base, the gallery, the banding on the inkwell and the lid. There is also a stamp for the company name on the base. The feet are attached with nut and bolt. Very heavy gauge silver and of extremely high quality.
This antique desk tidy comes in excellent condition: there is some very minor “age-related” scuffing but nothing which detracts from the quality of the piece
